Who can apply

You may be eligible for a Funeral Support Payment if you live in Scotland, you or your partner receive certain benefits, and the person who died lived in the UK. The funeral must usually be held in the UK, although payments may be available for funerals held in another country in some circumstances. You or your partner must be responsible for the funeral costs, it must be reasonable for you to accept that responsibility, and you must apply after the person has died and within six months of the funeral.
